ADVANCING CONNECTIVITY, INTEROPERABILITY AND RESILIENCE OF THE DANUBE REGION RAILWAY NETWORK – INVITATION

Under the auspices of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR), the EUSDR Priority Area 1b Coordinators, in cooperation with the Transport Community Permanent Secretariat, are organizing a high-level event focused on the future of railway connectivity and resilience in the Danube Region. The event will take place in Sarajevo on 4-5 June 2025.

The gathering will bring together key decision-makers, transport experts, and stakeholders to discuss pressing issues related to railway infrastructure, interoperability, and climate resilience. Through expert discussions and interactive sessions, participants will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge, foster cross-border cooperation, and define key priorities for sustainable railway development in the region.

AD HOC WORKING GROUP ON RAILWAYS, 16TH SEPTEMBER 2020

Against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, PA1b decided to organise an online Ad hoc Working Group on railways on Wednesday, 16 September 2020 in the afternoon, from 13.00 – 16.00 (CET).

REGIONAL RAIL CONNECTIVITY: PA1b AND UN ECE JOINT WORKSHOP

3-4 October 2019: Sustainable transport is a basic element for the economic and social development of any country. Due to globalization of the economy, countries are more and more depending on an efficient transport system to ensure their development.  The dynamics of globalization have indeed brought trade, mobility and sustainable transport into the forefront of national and regional development strategies. This goes hand in hand with international efforts aimed at better connectivity and seamless mobility and reducing the costs and the complexity of moving goods/passengers.

The aim of the Workshop was to increase awareness on importance of better Danube region rail connectivity and to strengthen cooperation between the regional transport stakeholders (ministries, railways, terminal operators, hauliers) to create common, reliable and sustainable rail services on the international market. The workshop allowed attendees to link regional rail connectivity with national transport policies and to discuss wider prospective of the region to attract international transport flows. A key aspect of the workshop was the exchange of information and experiences of participants in relation to rail connectivity in the Danube region.
